Background
XYZ organization is in
the process of starting up an organization and needs an internet web
site. Work progress to date has been the registration of two internet
domain names:
www.xyz.ca
www.xyz.com
A web host server has
been selected, web space purchased and the site has been set up with a
startup information web page. The “.ca” domain has been established
as a backup measure and will be set up to take the web user to the
main web site.

Project Description
The next step in the web
site creation process is the design, development and launch of the
site. The steps involved in this work consist of: determining the
client’s information needs and content for the site; scoping out the
desired “look” and size of the site; and, finally, developing and
programming of the complete package.

Total time
required
20 hours
The time required
to create a web site varies with needs. For example, the time
may be less for the conversion of an existing site to a new and updated
site (10 to 15 hours). The time may be more for many web pages,
web pages with many client created graphics or for rework on site
content because of changing source or reference material. The time
may also increase because the client has the need for content and images
not available and requiring assistance from Miller's Imagery.
The web site will consist
of five to six web pages with a mixture of text and graphics with
necessary links to web pages and other key information about the
organization, its services and programs. The site layout, background
and use of imaginative imagery will “attract the attention of first
time visitors and encourage repeat visits”. The site will include
a visitor or hit count indicator and other reports will provide
supporting statistics on site access.
The time shown above
in the Project Plan is typical of that required for a five to six page
site. A site requiring more pages would typically require more project
hours and cost.

Project Cost
In order to complete the
above project work, the cost will be based on an hourly rate of Z $
per hour. For any substantial increase in time, beyond the estimated
20 project hours, the rate will be ZZ $ per hour. For any ongoing
