Canada Day celebrations in Coe Hill offer fun
for everyone, thanks to a hardworking Wollaston Recreation Canada Day Committee, 4:00 p.m.- Baseball, Face
Painting, Police Shoulder Pad Display; 7:00 p.m.- Parade on Main St. 7:30
- Canada Day
cake served: 7:45 - Trophy and Prize presentations; 8:00 - Bed Race -
sponsored by Red Eagle Trailer Park; 8:00 p.m.- Trophy Presentation; 8:00 p.m. - Live
Entertainment; 9:30 p.m.- Fireworks. Canada Day celebrations are supported
with
donations and help from the Wollaston Lake Home and Cottage Association,
The Coe Hill Legion Branch 581, The Wollaston Fire Dept. and The Coe Hill Agricultural
Society.

Join the Canada Day Celebrations
Mosey down to the Fair Grounds at 4:00pm to join a relay
team, fun games for all ages.
Get into the spirit and enter your decorated Bike into the
parade no age limit..best decorated prizes awarded.
Parade starts at 7:00pm on Main
Street across from Food Mart and Liquor Store.
Follow parade down to the Fair Grounds, enjoy free cake,
support the awards ceremony.
Live entertainment, 8:00 pm - dusk...Coe Hill Girls Live~!
Fireworks begin at dusk~!

Take a Kid Fishing Derby, Saturday, July 10th

Find a young cottager (up to 12
years old) who likes to fish and enter the Take a Kid Fishing
Derby. Licences are not needed as it is a Ministry of Natural
Resources exempt day. Catches will be weighed at Island View
Cottages from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. Only fish caught in Wollaston Lake
are eligible. Presentation of prizes starts at 4:15 p.m. Marilyn Brickles and family (613)337- 5046 are organizing the event this
year with the much appreciated assistance of Bev Meyers and
Island View Cottages (613)337-5533. Each year the WLHCA
donates to the purchase of prizes. Additional contributions are
welcome.
Golf Day, Saturday, July 10th

The Eighth Annual WLHCA Golf Day
will be held at Marvel Rapids Golf Course, Hwy #620, 5 km east
of Apsley. Thank you to Tedd Pickering (613) 337-5088 or
(905) 640-5056 who is co-ordinating this event. T-Off times will
be scheduled between 9:00 & 11:00 a.m. Register quickly with
Tedd, as T-off spots are limited. Presentation of prizes is at
noon
Children's Fun Day, Saturday, July 17th, 11:00 to 1 p.m.
We are very fortunate again to have
Kelly Earle and Kim Finley co-ordinating Children's Fun Day
again. Bring children (ages 5 and 14) to Island View Beach (Thank
you Bev and Bill) to enjoy planned activities and games, win
prizes supplied by WLHCA and enjoy a lunch of hot dogs and a
drink donated by Kelly and Richard at Ron Earle Excavation .
Volunteers are needed. Thank you, Beryl Lee, Herby Whittle
and Ed Stewart for Food Preparation.
Coe Hill Municipal Open House, Saturday, July 17th, 11:30 a.m.
to 2 p.m.
Come to the Community Centre for a
hot dog lunch and meet members of the council and municipal
staff, visit booths set up by the municipality and groups in the
community, gather information, and ask questions of the
representatives. Members of the WLHCA executive will set up a
display booth and look forward to meeting everyone to talk about
life at the cottage.
2nd Annual Coe Hill Wild West
Weekend Saturday, July 31st and Sunday, Aug 1st.
Enjoy western events for the whole
family...petting zoo, pony rides, panning for gold, best western
costume, wild west theater, dinner on Saturday, and Breakfast
on Sunday. Cottage volunteers will be greatly appreciated.

Horseshoe Tournament and B.B.Q. Sunday, August 1st, 11:00 a.m.
Tedd and Angi Pickering are again
hosting a horseshoe tournament for women and men during the day
followed by a BBQ (beef roasted on a spit). Everyone brings
a potluck dish and a great supper is had by all. Bring
snacks/lunch, and beverages in a cooler. The Tournament is on
Ferguson Bay Road, 4 km south of Hyw 620 on The South Rd.
(Second Lake). To enter and for details on parking, entry fee, etc.

Poker Run, Saturday, August 7th, 1 p.m.
Kathy Convers and her great group
of volunteers have again agreed to run the Poker Run. Contact
Kathy (905) 623-5943, (613) 337 8576 ) if you would like
to volunteer to be one of the five docks. Sign up for a nominal
fee at Island View a week before the event. Prizes will be
presented based on the entry fees generated from the
participants. Remember to enjoy only nonalcoholic beverages on the lake
and save the beer for the pier.
Second Annual Volleyball Tournament Saturday August 14th. - Noon
Hour
A volleyball tournament is being
planned starting at noon at 179 Maple Ridge Lane. This is an all
ages and all abilities event. Teams will be selected by random
draw. What to bring: Lawn Chair(s), Beverages, Pot Luck Dish
(hosts will provide cold meat/buns), sense of humour, and a
wrapped item for the prize table. Every player is asked to bring
a prize item from their home or cottage that is no longer
wanted/needed and would be headed for the next garage sale. This
item should not cost anything. . . . re-gift, re-cycle,
re-use...your trash could be a treasure! Please register with

Coe Hill Agricultural Fair, Friday, and Saturday, August 27th
and 28th
Pick up a membership at the
municipal office for $5.00 and enter competitions for art work,
photography, preserves, baked goods, and agricultural products on
Friday morning. Livestock Judging starts on Saturday, beginning
with horses at 9:00 am. From 4:00 on Friday, admire the
work of the ribbon winners at the exhibits, take a spin on the
midway, indulge yourself with “Fair Food”, hum along with the band. At
the grandstand, watch the pony pull at 5:00, official opening
remarks at 7:00 and the Demolition Derby at 7:30. On
Saturday, enjoy the midway and see the prize winners on display.
WLHCA is proud to contribute to the prizes for the fair.
WLHCA Annual Meeting: Sunday, August 22nd 11:00 a.m.
The Wollaston Lake Home and Cottage
Association Annual meeting will be held at the Royal Canadian
Legion in Coe Hill. All members are welcome. This year, Bob
Ireland will present changes to the Slate of Officers
Warrior's Day Parade, Saturday, September 4th to Sunday, Sept
5th.
Many events are planned by the
Warriors' Day Committee to honour men and women of Canada's
Armed Forces and veterans. On Saturday and Sunday, the
Fairgrounds are open to public for displays and demonstrations.
A Field Church Service will be held at 1:30 on Sunday at the
grandstand, followed by a Armed Forces parade with the Bancroft
Pipe band on Main Street in Coe Hill, ending with a Memorial
Service at the Cenotaph. Honoured guests will lay wreaths. On
Sunday, everyone is welcome
to breakfast (7:00am) for $5.00
and beef or pork supper (5:00 pm) at the Legion for $12.00.
