Congratulations
to Joanne and Fred Cox for a super job in organizing the
2007 WLHCA Poker Run.
We have had
some great Poker Runs in past years and the Poker Run this
year was no exception. The weather was glorious. The
company was wonderful. On August at 1:00 p.m.,
boats all over Wollaston Lake set out carrying 205
participants, some only 4years old…. one with 4 legs,
to collect their poker cards at 5 docks festooned
with colourful balloons and umbrellas. Thank
you to all the volunteers who spent a very busy two hours
bobbing around on their docks, finding a secure hold
for the visiting boats , handing out cards and being very
genial hosts for all the captains and their crews. Our
dock keepers were Bob Ireland and Jim Miller, Wynn and Al
Williamson, Angela Metauro and family, Beryl Lee and Herb
Whittle, and Celina and Rick Clark. A big thank you
to Fred and Joanne and all the volunteers who looked after
the docks. Be sure to thank them when you see them.
Without our volunteers the summer would not be nearly as
much fun.

Joanne and Fred
organized a very extensive prize list. They said that the
merchants were glad to participate. I did look for twisted
arms but I didn’t see any. Check the pictures on the

certainly appreciates all the contributions made by the
following merchants. A special thank you, goes to Bev and
Bill Meyers who so graciously hosted the winners circle at
their pagoda beside the beach.
