In spite of rain
earlier in the day, The “Take a Kid Fishing Derby” fishing
on July 7th, had a great turn out, thanks to
parents and grandparents who helped give many children a
chance to go fishing and then helped them bring their
catches to Island View. A big cheer of appreciation
goes to Brownwyn Sage for organizing the day and weighing
all the catches. A big thank you to Bev Meyers who ordered
all the prizes, donated money for prizes and helped
Bronwyn sort out the entry list with the size of the
catches.
We were pleased to
see two fish weighing over a pound and a few were big
enough to have for dinner. Other entries were put back in
Wollaston Lake so they could grow bigger for next year.
All the participants were winners and went home clutching
great prizes to use when they go fishing. Hopefully you
will find a face you know in the pictures of winners taken
by Peggy Stewart.
