We were blessed with a gorgeous sun
filled day to hold WLHCA’s Children’s Fun Day. A big
thank you to the new coordinator of the Children’s Fun Day,
Kelly Earle, and her terrific team, Kim Finley, (Ron and Kathy
Earle’s Daughter) Kim Pearce ,(Deb and Bill Pearce’s
daughter-in-law) and Sarah McIntee (Fire Chief extraordinaire)
who made the day so much fun. . We appreciated the help of
Victoria Pusiak, who volunteered her great experience from
running Children’s Fun Day in the past and conducting the
jelly eating contest that had everyone laughing. Thank you to
Bev and Bill Meyers who offered their beach and help to make
the day a success.
Children and activity leaders started out
with face (or arm) painting. Other activities were, a
relay race to fill up buckets with a sponge that they wet in
the lake. A relay race to fill a bucket with a ladle,
tossing and catching water filled balloons, a three legged
race, tossing bean bags into hula hoops, an dress up
obstacle race, and a fishing pond, At the end of the
activities there was a jelly eating contest for the younger
and older children. Small plates were filled with jelly topped
with whipped cream, children were challenged to eat the jelly
with their hands behind their back. The first one done,
indicated the were finished by putting their plate upside down
on their head.
A big thank you also goes to two
gentlemen who have arranged lunch (drinks, freezees and cooked
hot dogs on a BBQ for all the children, many of their parents
and the volunteers for many, many years on Children’s Fun Day.
Jim De Haseth and Roy Tanouye, You’re the best. Thank you.
